Mission

DBCult Film Institute operates under Cult Cinema in order to preserve films, related materials in the most advanced manner possible, protect films from deterioration and neglect while also preserving their cultural aspect and future deliverance. Cult Cinema has very specific connotations which defines it. Anglo-Saxons define them as Cult Movies and surface B-Movies, in Italy they are called Cinema di Genere (genre films), Cinema Bis in France, Cine de Culto in Spain and South America, Filmes do Gênero in Portugal and Brazil, Filme des Genres in Germany, カルト映画 in Japan, Культ кино in Russia, 邪教电影 in China, عبادة أفلام in Arab countries, पंथ फिल्मों in India etc … but more specifically, characterizing these films with one or more genres since the birth of cinema with the Lumière brothers to the Eighties, usually far from the lavish productions. Often playing a key role in their bibliography, home video production and the general trend expressed by millions of media people around the world.

DBCult Film Institute is managed by goal oriented film scholars who work with professionalism and passion and welcome the help of anyone else who wants to contribute their knowledge, based on the same shared values. Our website does not have any commercial purpose, nonetheless,  it offers all its visitors an extensive collection of film database information, publications and press articles.

Upon request and free of charge, our foundation will provide collaboration and materials to scholars, writers and/or people whom work within the film industry.
