Library synopsis: [En] This is the best known, but by no means the best, of the numerous versions of Jeles Verne’s novel L’Ile Mystérieuse. The plot has a group of prisoners, escape from a Confederate prison by balloon, which collapse gently into the sea. They are eventually washed up on the shores of the mysterious island, where they immediately plunge into Ray Harryhausen’s special effects, which are undoubtedly the best thing in the movie.
