Baron Lóránt, now bankrupt for reasons for which he cannot be blamed, starts a new life in America, accompanied by Péter, his faithful valet. They both work as waiters in a bar. One day he refuses to serve his uncle and is given the sack.

A young married couple volunteer to take charge of several orphans after the asylum has burned down. Of course they find their hands full with their troublesome charges.
