Eight Bells Synopsis
Marge Walker, the daughter of a steamship-line owner, stows away on one of her father's ships bound for Shanghai. Roy Dale, the captain of the ship, is in love with her as is the first officer, Steve Andrews. The already-touchy situation gets touchier when both a typhoon and a mutiny strike the ship.
They're Off Synopsis
Rita Hackett's father has unscrupulously gained possession of an old southern mansion. The owner, Randolph Manners, is evicted and takes up residence in the training quarters on the estate. It is there when Rita meets Randolph and learns of her father's deeds. Rita disguises herself as a jockey and enters a a race, determined to help Randolph reclaim what is his.
"Eight Bells" holds a slight edge in general audience appreciation, but "They're Off" offers its own unique cult appeal.
