The Rendezvous Synopsis
The czar banishes Prince Sergei to Siberia for marrying without his consent. The wife, Varvara, dies, leaving a baby girl named Vera. Forced to flee, the prince leaves the girl in the care of Vassilly, a friend. Years later, during the Russian Civil War, the countryside is raided by Cossacks. Walter Stanford, an American soldier, saves Vera, now 18 years old, from being attacked by a Cossack chief. The Cossack forces Vera to marry him, then brutally beats her. The soldier returns, claims the girl, and marries her after the Cossack is accidentally buried alive.
The Jaguar's Claws Synopsis
The manager of the American oil company quits out of fear of El Jaguar, the bandit who is terrorizing the Mexican countryside, Phil Jordan is sent in his place. Phil arrives with his younger sister Nancy, when the bandit makes a unwanted pass towards the girl, Phil beats him, causing El Jaguar to vow revenge. Waiting until Phil's bride Beth arrives, El Jaguar captures all three Americans and sadistically forces Phil to choose between leaving with his sister or his wife. Beth volunteers to remain as a sacrifice, and Phil and Nancy ride off, soon to encounter a troop of rangers. They all rush back to rescue Beth, but before they arrive, the bandit is killed by a woman whom he had abducted and violated on her wedding night.
"The Rendezvous" holds a slight edge in general audience appreciation, but "The Jaguar's Claws" offers its own unique cult appeal.
