The Silent Avenger Synopsis
Stanley Gilmore, the son of a railroad president, atones for a series of wild escapades by traveling to Tennessee to secure a right-of-way through the property of farmer Dave Wade. Accompanied by his dog, Thunder, Stanley meets with Dave and initiates a friendship with the farmer's daughter, Patsy. Stanley's arrival is noted by Joe Sneed, a henchman of Bill Garton, engineer for a rival railroad. When the dog thwarts Bill's attempt to steal important documents from Stanley, the engineer informs the corrupt sheriff. Later, Thunder battles a bear in defense of Little Bud Wade, then saves the boy from drowning at the hands of Joe and the sheriff. While sending his father a telegram, Stanley is kidnapped, but Thunder rescues his master, flags down a train, and drives the villains to their death. Stanley finds happiness with Patsy, and his father acquires the right-of-way.
Cynthia of the Minute Synopsis
While in New York seeking work, Cynthia, a young English girl, meets Bruce Crittenden and George Rhode who introduce her to Madame Savarin, a wealthy woman seeking a companion for a sea voyage. She hires Cynthia, and while at sea, Cynthia discovers that Bruce is the ship's purser. Cynthia's father was a famous wireless expert who taught her how to read code, which enables her to overhear a plot to sink the ship and steal Mrs. Savarin's jewels. Soon after, the crew mutinies, and while Rhode and Bruce fight the crew, Cynthia sounds the alarm. As he is attempting to foil the jewel thieves, Bruce falls overboard, and Cynthia swims to his rescue with the jewels strapped to her back. They are rescued by a government patrol boat and taken back to New York where Cynthia and Bruce are married.
"Cynthia of the Minute" is currently leading in ratings, making it a stronger choice for newcomers to the genre.
