The Sleep Walker Synopsis
After getting all bunged up while sleepwalking Sid goes out in the country to try and cure his habit, but his precautions prove of no avail, for a storm takes his bed out of a window onto the wings of an aeroplane, after several perilous near-falls he finally does fall to earth and then has a time trying to return home as he is in his pajamas. Finally he lands on a train that has among its passengers a kicking mule and a company of chorus girls. Not content with the excitement that can be gotten out of a combination like this, an escaped convict boards the train and robs the heroine of jewels and there is another mix-up as Sid's pajamas resemble a convict's suit. Peace is finally restored and Sid wakes up and finds it all a nightmare.
An Amateur Devil Synopsis
Carver Endicott, a young sophisticate, is rejected by his fiancée for being too foppish and dull. When she feigns an interest in his father, Carver attempts to disgrace his family name by working as a farmhand and later as a busboy in a hotel. However, the newspapers only praise him for his self-sacrificing principles; and finding that he cannot bring shame to the family through menial labor, he takes up with a notorious actress. But when this maneuver also fails, he returns to his former fiancée, who has no further complaint about his being an inexperienced dullard.
"The Sleep Walker" holds a slight edge in general audience appreciation, but "An Amateur Devil" offers its own unique cult appeal.
