The Spite Bride Synopsis
Tessa Doyle, an innocent country girl who has come to New York and joined a vaudeville sister act, becomes embroiled in a scheme to earn money at her partner Trixie Dennis' insistence. When millionaire Billy Swayne is jilted by his fiancee, Millicent Lee, he and his friend Rodney Dolson get drunk and decide that Billy must get married that night. Tessa agrees to marry Billy so that Trixie can use the money to obtain a divorce. After the marriage, Trixie tries to blackmail Billy. Tessa becomes angry and leaves without accepting any payment. Later, after she has become the private secretary to a woman who turns out to be Billy's mother, Tessa meets Billy again. They fall in love and get married again.
The Vagabond Prince Synopsis
Prince Tonio of Bothalia, a mythical kingdom in the Balkan Mountains, escapes an arranged marriage to Princess Athalia, the elderly daughter of a neighboring king. Filled with wanderlust, he becomes a sailor and goes to San Francisco where he becomes a member of a Bohemian artist colony. After Burton Randall, an artist friend, gets him a job as a Maitre D'Armes fencing instructor, Tonio meets a young singer from the Barbary Coast named Fluffy, falls in love with her, and rescues her from political boss Murphy who tries to seduce her. Later, an ambassador from Bothalia, Count Metropolski; arrives to tell Prince Tonio that his uncle has been assassinated and that he is now the sole heir to the throne. Tonio must decide between duty and love, and he chooses love, renouncing the throne.
"The Vagabond Prince" is currently leading in ratings, making it a stronger choice for newcomers to the genre.
