Biography
A brass-band Fourth-of-July baby, George Lessey arrived in Amherst, Massachusetts, on 8 June 1875 and soon traded small-town quiet for the flicker of klieg lights. Between 1915 and 1922 he shaped silent-era dreams—first as an actor split in two for The Corsican Brothers, then guiding the camera through the criminal confession of His Own Story and the ghost-rattling shadows of The Evil Dead. Off-screen he partnered his life with actress May Abbey. The lights dimmed for good on 3 June 1947 in Westbrook, Connecticut, but the frames he left behind still roll.
