Biography
Harold Entwistle first drew breath on 5 September 1865 amid the fog and footlights of London. By his early fifties he had slipped behind the camera and in front of it, guiding and performing in Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch and Salomy Jane, both released in 1914, and later lending his presence to 1919’s The Divorcee. Off-screen he shared his life with actress Jane Ross; together they crossed the Atlantic and settled under the California sun. He closed his final act on 1 April 1944 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, leaving behind a quiet legacy etched in the flicker of silent-era celluloid.
