Biography
Emerging from Copenhagen on February 20, 1860, Karl Mantzius became a pivotal figure in the evolution of Danish dramatic arts. As a master of both the stage and the burgeoning silver screen, he commanded attention through his directorial and acting contributions to classics like Penge (1915), Addys Ægteskab (1916), and Pavilionens hemmelighed (1916). His journey through life was shared with three successive partners: Soffy Walleen, Sara Beckett, and Wanda Fride Augusta Mathiesen. Mantzius’s prolific chapter in cinematic history concluded on May 17, 1921, in Frederiksberg.
