Biography
Hailing from Haarlem, Noord-Holland, where he was born on April 5, 1868, Maurits Binger established himself as a cornerstone of early cinema. As both a director and producer, he was the creative force behind enduring works like 1918's Op hoop van zegen and the 1919 duo Carmen of the North and Het goudvischje. He shared his life with his wife, Bettina Cantor, until his death in Wiesbaden, Germany, on April 9, 1923.
