Biography
Born in Görlitz, Saxony, on 2 October 1873, Waldemar Hecker swapped the quiet of the German border town for the flicker of early film reels. Behind the camera he steered stories like the gothic intrigue of *Der Geisterseher* (1915), the comic misadventures of *Pimpelmeiers Brautfahrt* (1916), and the industrial romance *Fabrik-Marianne* (1913). After pacing silent sets and scripting silent lives, he settled into the Rhineland vineyards of Johannisberg, where he died on 20 September 1958.
