Biography
Born under the wide skies of Iowa on 20 May 1875, Walter Morton swapped cornfields for klieg lights and forged a career behind—and occasionally in front of—the camera. Between 1914 and 1916 he steered three now-lost one-reelers through Fort Lee’s bustling studios: the operetta-tinged *The Chocolate Soldier*, the vengeance-laced melodrama *The Folly of Revenge*, and the cliff-hanging sprint *A Race with Death*. Morton’s own final curtain fell in the same New Jersey filmmaking hub on 2 February 1926, aged fifty.
