Biography

A Londoner welcomed into the world on 2 July 1864, William Le Queux spent his life scripting nightmares and filming shadows. Between the clamour of newspaper presses and the hush of early film sets, he conjured The White Lie (1914), followed by the twin 1915 chillers Sadounah and The Sons of Satan, acting as both scribe and scene-stager. Sixty-three years later, the Alps closed the final reel, claiming him on 13 October 1927 in Switzerland.
