Chicago’s winter skies welcomed Adda Gleason on 19 December 1888, and by 1915 she was already bewitching silent-era audiences—first as the desperate heroine of *The Sacred Bracelet*, then as the devout beauty at the heart of *The Rosary*. A decade later she stepped into *The Old Soak* (1926), proving her staying power just as talkies began to whisper their arrival.
