Between the flicker of gaslight and the glare of early kliegs, Agnes Everett stepped before the camera just long enough to leave three bright scratches on the silent era’s fragile emulsion. In 1915 she helped topple the pillars of biblical legend in Samson; five years later she walked the repentant streets of Sinners and slipped into the clandestine moonlight of The Stolen Kiss, both released in the same breathless 1920 season. Then, like a reel change audiences never noticed, she vanished—her name still spinning in the projector beam, her face still dancing on the wall.
