Biography
Albert Froom entered the world in 1866 on English soil and, before the century closed, had slipped across the Atlantic to trade the London fog for Broadway lights. Between 1914 and 1917 he slipped into three very different skins: a fortune-hunting sleuth in *The Million Dollar Mystery*, a soot-streaked laborer pouring his heart out in *The Song of the Wage Slave*, and a stern Manx judge wrestling fate in *The Deemster*. The reels stopped turning, but Froom kept pace with Manhattan’s rhythms until 1940, when the city claimed him for good.
