Biography
Bergen’s salty winds greeted Albert Gran on 4 August 1862, and the fjord-raised boy grew into a performer who swapped Nordic winters for California sun. Between silents and early talkies he slipped into the skin of priests, tycoons, and bon vivants, leaving his urbane mark on 7th Heaven (1927), Dry Martini (1928), and the ruthlessly witty Employees’ Entrance (1933). A month after the latter premiered, the 70-year-old actor closed his final scene in Los Angeles on 16 December 1932.
