Biography
Brooklyn welcomed Albert S. Howson on 3 February 1881, and by the roaring twenties he had traded brownstone sidewalks for studio lots. Between 1927 and 1929 he slipped into three very different skins: the sharp-tongued escort of *Matinee Ladies*, the iron-willed engineer of *The Greyhound Limited*, and the battle-scarred pal of *A Dog of the Regiment*. Off-camera he spun stories as readily as he delivered lines, and off-set he kept company with Loretta Healy, the woman who became his wife. Six decades after his first breath, he drew his last on 2 August 1960 in Forest Hills, New York, closing the curtain on a life lived in footlights and flicker.
