Biography
In the flicker of pre-Revolutionary reels, Aleksandr Chargonin first stepped before the camera for Mute Witnesses (1914), three years later plumbed murky moral depths in Vyryta zastupom yama glubokaya... (1917), and surfaced again in the civil-war era to haunt the crumbling mansion of Chertovo gnezdo (1919).
