Biography
Born among the vineyards of Boen-sur-Lignon on 18 April 1870, Alexandre Arquillière traded the quiet Loire air for the flicker of early film. He stepped before Gaumont’s hand-cranked cameras in 1908’s *Drink*, then twice slipped into the velvet cloak of the master criminal Zigomar—first locking horns with Nick Carter in 1912, then headline-stealing in 1913’s *Zigomar – the Black Scourge, Episode 1*. Between shoots he sharpened scripts as readily as his performances, leaving a trail of menace and charm that dissolved only when the final reel stopped in Saint-Étienne on 9 June 1953.
