Biography
Liverpool delivered Alfred Bishop to the world on 7 February 1848, and the footlights soon claimed him. Over three decades he lent his presence to the silent era—summoning genies in 1914’s *The Brass Bottle*, donning scarlet for *The Lifeguardsman* two years later, and sealing his screen legacy with 1919’s *His Last Defence*. Off-camera he shared his life with fellow performer Rose Egan. The final curtain fell on 22 May 1928, in London, the city that had long been his professional home.
