Biography
A Berlin sunrise on 12 August 1872 marked the first breath of Alfred Kuehne, a man whose face would later flicker across the canvas of German silent cinema. Between 1916 and 1920 he stepped before the cameras for three lightning-flash roles: the mythic clash of Titanenkampf, the shadowy mystery of Die schwarze Kugel, and the moral maze of Das Götzenbild der Wahrheit. Fame arrived in monochrome and departed just as quietly; Kuehne’s final curtain fell far from home, in Nazi-occupied Prague, on 5 February 1942.
