Biography
A Manhattan winter welcomed Anna Lehr on 17 November 1890, and from that first breath she seemed destined for footlights. By her mid-twenties she was flickering across nickelodeon screens, lending wide-eyed gravity to Civilization’s Child (1916), sparking voltage through Thunderbolts of Fate (1919), and dissecting matrimony in The Truth About Husbands (1920). Off-camera she joined lives with Edwin McKim, sharing a marriage that survived Hollywood’s quicksilver moods. Eighty-three years after her New York dawn, Pacific waves hushed her final scene in Santa Monica, California, on 22 January 1974.
