Biography
Anna Thorell entered the world in 1861 amid the cobblestones and shipyard clang of Gothenburg, Västra Götalands län, and took her first bow long before the camera arrived. Silent screens later caught her in three quick lightning-flashes of Nordic cinema: she stirred hearts in Karin Ingmarsdotter (1920), revived history’s echoes in Carolina Rediviva that same year, and traded chuckles for sobs in Löjen och tårar (1924). When the curtain finally fell in 1939, the city that had once rocked her cradle claimed her last exit.
