Biography
A Bologna winter brought Annibale Ninchi into the world on 20 November 1887, and from that first breath he seemed destined to step into the spotlight. Over the decades he lent his commanding presence to Federico Fellini’s swirling Rome in La Dolce Vita (1960), guided Marcello Mastroianni through the dreamscape of 8½ (1963), and rode with the steel-clad fury of Charge of the Black Lancers (1962). When the curtain finally fell on 15 January 1967, it was in Pesaro, the Adriatic town that became his last stage.
