Biography
Munich welcomed August Weigert on 31 January 1877, and the stage soon claimed him. Between claps and curtain calls he shaped silents: 1920’s brooding *Das schwarze Amulett*, the conscience-tormented *Der Mann mit dem schlechten Gewissen* the next year, and the festive *Ein Fest auf Haderslevhuus*, a five-part pageant also released in 1921. Actor, director, or both at once, he spun stories until the final fade-out on 22 April 1953.
