Biography
Born in Christiania on 12 October 1866, Axel Strøm stormed the early Danish silent screen as both leading man and mastermind behind the camera. In 1910 alone he unveiled two one-reel sensations—Dorian Grays Portræt, a Scandinavian twist on Wilde’s cautionary tale, and the mischievous short Den døde Rotte—then capped the pre-war era with the 1914 epic The Heir to Skjoldborg. Strøm’s final curtain fell on 12 April 1950, leaving behind a flickering legacy of white-hot melodrama and shadow-laced ambition.
