Biography
Barney Magee stepped before the camera only once—yet that single stride secured his place in history. In 1914, while Dublin’s streets crackled with talk of Home Rule, he appeared in Ireland, a Nation, the pioneering film that dared to dramatize the island’s fight for independence. No surviving records list his role, but for one electric reel he carried the revolution onto the screen, then vanished back into the city that bred him.
