Biography
March 7, 1883, New York City gained a future scene-stealer when Betty Scott arrived, notebook already tucked beneath her baby blanket. By 1915 she was tangling clues in *The Alster Case*, a whodunit that let her sharpen the wit audiences would later chase across the silent range of *Ridin' the Wind* (1925). When talkies roared in, she cocked a pistol and a wink in *Pardon My Gun* (1930), proving her voice could ricochet off theater walls as cleanly as her pen could plot a twist. Off-screen she traded lines with actor Sam Hardy, her husband and favorite sparring partner. The final curtain fell on February 7, 1955, in Los Angeles, but the reels she inked and inhabited keep spinning.
