Biography
October 14, 1855: Kristiansand welcomed Betzy Kofoed into the world, little guessing the silver-screen grandmother she would become. Sixty years later, she stepped before the camera for *Kærlighedens Firkløver* and *For Lykke og Ære*—both released in 1915—proving that Nordic wit ages like fjord-cooled wine. She returned in 1917 as the quick-witted *Telefondamen*, turning a switchboard into a stage. Off-screen, she answered to two husbands—first Carl Emil Petersen, later Jens Koefoed—collecting surnames the way others collect theatre programs. Her final curtain fell on January 23, 1923, in Skive, Denmark, but the flicker of her performances keeps the projector humming.
