Biography
November 1851 found Blanche Chapman drawing her first breath amid the Ohio River bustle of Covington, Kentucky. The footlights soon beckoned, and she built a stage career that flickered onto the silent screen as Mother Wiggs in the 1914 screen version of Cabbage Patch tales. Offstage she shared her life with fellow actor Henry Clay Ford. Her final curtain fell on 7 June 1941 in Rutherford, New Jersey, closing a nine-decade-long performance.
