Within four whirlwind years she slipped in front of the camera, animating two 1915 one-reelers—The Secretary of Frivolous Affairs and The Taunt—with a brisk, modern spark. Audiences were still catching their breath when, six years later, she trekked into the wilds of cinema again for the 15-chapter serial Miracles of the Jungle, proving her stamina among tigers, quicksand, and flickering torchlight.
