Biography

Born in South Dakota in the twilight years of the 1880s, Bliss Milford spent her formative years amidst the bustle of Chicago. A captivating, curly-haired brunette, she brought her talents to the nascent world of cinema, starring and supporting in a diverse spectrum of dramas, crime thrillers, comedies, and cowboy pictures. Her screen career commenced in 1911 with the pioneering Edison Film Company, followed by a brief but impactful period with Thanhouser Film Company. Milford is perhaps best remembered for her portrayal of Daisy in the 1912 production 'What Happened To Mary?', sharing the screen with Mary Fuller, and for her role as Mrs. Bertha Randall in the 1914 feature 'The Adventure of the Wrong Santa Claus'. Her final on-screen appearance came in 1918 as Ruby in 'Sylvia on a Spree', a Metro Film Company release starring Emmy Wehlen. After leaving the Klieg lights behind, Bliss Milford settled on a ranch near Las Vegas, New Mexico, a locale that, ironically, served as an early epicenter for the very Westerns she once graced.
