Biography
Santa Rosa, California, greeted her arrival on 8 July 1886 with warm valley sunshine and the nickname “Brownie.” By 1915 the camera had fallen for her too: she lit up Jewel and dove head-first into The Phantom Fortune, both released that whirlwind year. Two seasons later she traded slapstick for chivalry, donning medieval skirts to charm audiences in Luke Wins Ye Ladye Faire (1917). Wanderlust eventually tugged her across the Pacific, and in 1925 fate closed her final scene in Shanghai, China, on 18 March.
