Biography
Bruce Mitchell first drew breath on November 16, 1880, amid the cornfields of Freeport, Illinois, and by the early Roaring Twenties had traded prairie dust for studio lights. In front of the camera he punched the clock as a fearless leading man, steering Speed Madness (1925) through its break-neck turns; behind it he called the shots on Dynamite Dan (1924) and the sky-high adventure Three Miles Up (1927). Off-set, the woman sharing his marquee was wife Edith. The final reel rolled on September 26, 1952, when Mitchell—by then a Hollywood veteran—quietly exited the stage in Los Angeles.
