Biography
A miner’s son drawn to footlights instead of ore carts, Burton Law first saw daylight on 22 October 1877 in the cloud-ringed San Juan town of Ouray, Colorado. By the early ’20s he had traded mountain snow for klieg lights, carving a niche in silent serials: he rode the bucking frontier in Winners of the West (1921), stalked the pony-express era in In the Days of Buffalo Bill (1922), and raced to defuse sci-fi peril in The Radio-Active Bomb (1923). Off-camera he shaped dialogue and plot as readily as he delivered it, earning credit as both performer and scribe. Forty-two years after his last reel flickered, the curtain fell for good in Los Angeles on 2 November 1963.
