Biography

A spring baby from Chajarí—19 March 1891—Camila Quiroga stepped onto Argentina’s rudimentary film sets when cinema itself was still learning to walk. While audiences were gasping at Mariano Moreno y la revolución de Mayo (1915) and later at the melodrama of Resaca (1916), she was already forging a path for women in front of the camera. Two decades on, she weathered the talkie revolution to appear in North Wind (1937), proving her craft could travel from silent flicker to soundstage. Off-screen, she shared life and name with Héctor Quiroga. Her final curtain fell in Buenos Aires on 28 February 1948, leaving behind frames of light that still move across Argentine screens.
