Biography
Aberdeen welcomed Campbell Gollan on 21 January 1865, and from that Scottish granite city he launched a life that would soon flicker across silent screens. By 1915 he was guiding Thomas Hardy’s rustics in Far from the Madding Crowd, then spent 1916 juggling two more releases—Wild Oats and Gloria’s Romance—acting in and steering each one. Off-set he shared his life with actress Sallie C. Parsons. Fate truncated the story that December: on the 12th, in New York City, the final reel closed at only fifty-one.
