Biography
On 9 February 1872, Vienna sparked to life as Carl Wilhelm drew his first breath. Within decades he had turned that spark into moving images: the pilgrimage of Frau Anna in 1915, the clan secrets of Die Sippschaft in 1920, and the torment-rattled walls of Das Haus der Qualen in 1921.
