Biography
Catherine Carter stepped in front of the camera just as the silent era was finding its voice. In 1914 she appeared in two one-reel milestones—*The Greyhound*, a breakneck racing drama that thrilled nickelodeon crowds, and *The Lost Paradise*, a lush morality tale shot among California palms. The following year she joined the ensemble of *The Amazing Mr. Fellman*, a brisk 1915 comedy that kept audiences laughing from Union Square to small-town opera houses. Though her screen time was brief, those three surviving titles anchor her forever in the dawn of American cinema.
