Biography
Warwick, a market town humming with Tudor roofs, welcomed Charles Laite on 15 June 1883. By 1915 he had slipped in front of the camera, animating three silent thrillers—*An Affair of Three Nations*, *The House of Fear*, and *The Menace of the Mute*—before the reels themselves went mute. Two decades later, on 17 February 1937, his story closed in Cleveland, Ohio, far from the English streets where it began.
