Biography
A spring day in 1872 saw Charles Løwaas enter the world in Denmark; by the time he stepped in front of the camera for En Mesalliance (1912), he had already begun carving a quiet path through silent-era Danish cinema. Two years later he returned to the screen as the lovelorn lead in Hans første Kærlighed (1914), and in 1915 he braved tempests—literal and emotional—in I Storm og Stille. When the curtains finally closed on 30 March 1953, Løwaas left behind a compact but enduring legacy etched into the earliest reels of Scandinavian film history.
