Charles Prince drew his first breath in the clamor of 1867 Manhattan, a city already addicted to bright lights and bold stories. By 1915 he had stepped before the cameras to breathe life into Satan Sanderson, followed swiftly by the high-stakes whirl of A Million a Minute and the domestic storm of The Turmoil—three silents that sealed his reputation in flickering nitrate. Sixty-seven years after that New York dawn, the curtain rang down on 25 April 1934 in a quiet Queens neighborhood, closing the arc of a hometown boy who helped teach the city to dream in moving pictures.
