Biography
A native son of Providence, Charles Sutton first drew breath on 17 March 1855. Behind the camera and before it, he shaped early American cinema—chronicling scoops in *The Cub Reporter* (1912), riding the range in *Pardners* (1917), and prowling the salons of *Vanity Fair* (1915). Off-screen, he shared his life with actress Mary Isabella Bailey. His final curtain fell in Englewood, New Jersey, on 20 July 1935.
