Biography
On a winter’s day in 1860, Kingston-upon-Thames welcomed Charles Vane into the world. The stage soon beckoned, and he answered, carving a career that flickered to life on early flicker screens: The Secret Seven in 1914, Comin’ Thro’ the Rye two years later, and Whosoever Shall Offend in 1919. Eighty-three springs later, the Atlantic breezes of Polzeath, Cornwall, carried him away on 14 April 1943.
