Biography
A Manhattan autumn delivered Claire Mersereau on 20 September 1894, and before the silent era had fully found its voice she sprinted straight into the glow of the Kliegs. Three swift 1915 one-reelers—When It Strikes Home, Right Off the Bat, and The Avalanche—immortalized her wide-eyed charm on flickering nitrate. When the credits stopped rolling she slipped from marquee lights into the Pacific breeze, living quietly until her final curtain fell in San Diego on 26 June 1982.
