Biography
Seattle greeted Clara Williams on 3 May 1888, and by her late teens the rain-soaked city had yielded to the glare of klieg lights. Between 1910 and 1916 she stalked across the silent screen—first as the embattled heart of A Cowboy’s Vindication, later tangling with fate in The Criminal and bartering illusions in The Market of Vain Desire. Off-camera, two husbands—director Reginald Barker and, later, Franklyn Hall—shared her spotlight. Three decades after her first breath, Los Angeles closed the curtain on 8 May 1928, sealing a life that had flared as swiftly and brightly as the titles that still flicker in archives.
