Biography

"The curtain fell on the life of Colin Chase Gollings on April 27, 1937, at Los Angeles General Hospital. An autopsy conclusively attributed his demise to chronic diffuse pulmonary tuberculosis. A veteran of the Great War, Private Gollings served with B Company, 157th Infantry, enlisting on May 4, 1918, and receiving his discharge on August 1, 1918. He was laid to rest at Sawtelle National Cemetery, a testament to his military service. His journey into the nascent film industry commenced in 1919, with an early role at the influential Thomas H. Ince Company. While his name seldom appeared in the final credits, Gollings became a familiar face, often cast as a menacing henchman in the rapid-fire Westerns churned out by Poverty Row studios. His true identity, Colin Chase Gollings, is consistently corroborated by his birth and death certificates, as well as his World War I service records."
